Risk Controls

What Stops Your Bot From Exceeding the Limits You Set?

Lumverro's Risk Controls module enforces position-size and drawdown rules at the engine level — before any order reaches your broker.

Controls That Execute, Not Just Advise

Many platforms display risk metrics as dashboard warnings that the trader must act on manually. Lumverro's risk controls are enforcement mechanisms: if a proposed order violates a configured rule — maximum position size, daily loss ceiling, instrument exposure cap — the order is blocked before it is submitted, and the block event is written to the audit log with the rule name, the threshold value, the actual value that triggered the block, and a timestamp. This happens in under 50 milliseconds. You can review every block at any time and adjust thresholds through the same change-control process used for strategy modifications.

Available Risk Control Types

Define limits per instrument, per session, or across your entire account.

Position-Size Cap

Set a maximum contract or lot size per trade, expressed as a fixed amount or as a percentage of current account equity. The bot cannot submit an order that exceeds this limit regardless of what the strategy signals.

Daily Drawdown Ceiling

Define the maximum net loss permitted in a single trading session. When the ceiling is reached, the bot suspends new entries for the remainder of that day and logs the suspension event with a running account balance snapshot.

Instrument Exposure Cap

Limit the combined open exposure on any single instrument or instrument group. Useful when your strategy can open multiple simultaneous positions on correlated assets and you want to bound total sector risk.

Session Time Restrictions

Restrict the bot to predefined trading windows — for example, excluding the first and last 15 minutes of a session, or trading only during Kenya-relevant market hours. Time rules are applied before signal evaluation.

“During a period of unusual volatility in March I hit my daily drawdown ceiling three days in a row. Each time the bot stopped cleanly and I got an email with the exact account balance and the rule that triggered the halt. Without that log I would have had to reconstruct events from my broker statement — instead I had a complete picture in 30 seconds.”
